10 Days Gorillas & Big Game Safari

This tour will take you to the Uganda’s most visited parks and reserves, you will have a chance to join the love of gorillas and primates as well as wildlife. And you will also have a chance to interact with the local people especially the Batwa pygmy who stay near the park in Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Detailed itinerary                        

Day 1:  Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our safari guide holding a placard bearing your names.  If you arrive at Entebbe in time, you will either be transfer to your accommodation either in Kampala or Entebbe. If you still have energy on this day, you will go for a short city tour and visit places like the Kasubi tombs, Namugongo Marty’s shrine, Lake Victoria shores, Uganda museum and so on. Dinner and an overnight at your Hotel in Kampala. Sheraton Hotel/Kampala Serena Hotel for up market or Imperial Royale/Cassia Lodge for mid-range or Holiday Express Hotel/Excellent Hotel for budget.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Wake-up early for breakfast at the lodge after, your safari guide will brief you about the tour and later he will transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park passing via Luweero-Nakasongola and Masindi. Our first stopover will be at the Luweero Triangle and also at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. After this grate experience you will continue to Masindi town in time for lunch. After lunch, proceed to the park, here you will have a chance to go and visit the top of the falls where you will have a chance to experience the beauty of the mighty river Nile where its waters squeezes its self into a 7 meter gorge deep down over 45metres and hence making a thunderous roar. From here, you will proceed to your pre-booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa safari Lodge for up market/ Sambiya river lodge for mid-range and Red chill camp for budget

Day 3: Game drive and launch cruise in the park
after breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on an early game drive in the northern part of the park to catch up with early risers. The game drive will reward you with beautiful and a variety of wildlife in the park, games expected to see on the game drive include Elephants, Lions, leopards, buffaloes, Antelopes like bush bucks and water bucks, Kobs, warthogs just to mention  but a few. After, retire back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch as you wait for the afternoon launch cruise along the Albert Nile. On the Nile River, you will look out for crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and many bird species will be seen along the water banks. After this grate experience you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa safari Lodge for up market/ Sambiya river lodge for mid-range and Red chill camp for budget.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale forest National Park
Am early morning breakfast will be followed with a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park a home to over 13 species of primates coupled with chimpanzee the closest relative to human. The journey will reward you with stunning scenery especially of the great Rwenzori Mountains in Kasese. The journey will also pass via different homesteads of local people in Hoima and also you will sight tea and banana plantation. Lunch en-route in Hoima town and later proceed to fort portal reaching in the evening at the park. You will be driven direct to your pre-booked accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale safari Lodge or Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for up market/ Chimps nest for mid-range and Chimpanzee guest house for budget.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest and Bigodi swamp walk
Wake-up early for breakfast, after setoff following the company guide for the short chimpanzee briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials. After, you will follow the ranger guide into the forest to begin the search of chimps our closest relatives, they share a lot in common with human. Ounce you come into their presence, Look out in the trees for chimpanzees, in  the process of chimp trekking, you will  spot other primates such the white colobus monkeys, grey-checked mangabey, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, Baboons and different  bird species like the great blue turacco, Africa pied king fisher , malkites and so on. Chimps are fabulous fun to watch as they play in fruitful trees. Return back to the lodge after the trek for lunch after which you will go for the Bigodi swamp walk to search for the water loving bird species. The forest is not only known for its 13 species of primates, but this swamp area with in it, is a bird watchers paradise. After this activity, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale safari Lodge or Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for up market/ Chimps nest for mid-range and Chimpanzee guest house for budget.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
After a fully served breakfast, a transfer from Kibale forest national park to Queen Elizabeth national park will be made. On your way, you will provide with different scenic views of the great mountains of the moon. You will have en-route game drive which will offer you with sights of different animals and how they behave at different times. You will have a chance to see Elephants, Leopards, Lions and Kobs. Arrive at the park in the evening. The evening will be reserved at leisure at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge for up market/Hippo hill camp or Ihamba for mid-range/Simba Safari camp for budget.

Day 7: Game drive and Launch cruise
early morning breakfast is followed with a game drives in the park searching for the early risers,   games expected to see include elephants, lions, leopards, hyena, different species of antelopes, warthogs, buffaloes, among others. After, you will retire back to the lodge for full breakfast. After lunch, you will embark on a two hours launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. This water system hosts the highest concentration of Hippo in the world, and this excursion brings us up close to them. We will also see crocodile, buffalo, and other games that drink from the Channel, you will also have a chance to see different species of birds that live and feed on the lake. After this experience, transfer to our lodge. As dusk falls, we prepare for dinner and a good night’s rest. Overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge, kyambura Gorge Lodge, Katara Safari Lodge, Park View safari Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park
early breakfast will be followed with a game drive to catch-up with early riser that live in the park. Alternatively, you can go for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura gorge. After lunch drive through the Ishasha sector commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions. You will have a chance to see the tree-climbing lions sited in fig tree/ tree branches. After, proceed to the park arrive in the late evening, the evening will be reserved for leisure. Dinner and an overnight at stay at Gorilla Forest Camp/Gorilla resort for up market, Buhoma lodge or Lake Kitandara camp for mid- range or Buhoma community Bandas for budget.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking experience
Wake-up for an early breakfast at the lodge after, follow the guide to the park headquarters to receive short briefings from the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. After the briefing, you will follow the park ranger who will lead you deep into the impenetrable forest to start the search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas who only live to this park and Mgahinga forest in Uganda.

The search for the gorillas is unpredictable meeting them depends on where they last spent their night from or from where they were last seen the previous day. The search may involve passing through muddy and thick forest and upon reaching them, you will only be allowed to stay with them for only one hour. You are advised to always keep maximum silence while with these Gorillas since they are wild animals they can react on you. You are allowed to take photographs as well as studding their behaviors, you are not allowed to use flash cameras when taking photos. Gorilla trekking is regarded as such a tiresome experience since it can take you almost 2-8 hours to find them. However, once these apes are meet, you will easily forget all the hustles you have gone through and instead save the good memories you will experience with them. Gorilla trekking is  regarded as one of the world’s truly memorable experiences, a look into one of these magnificent God creatures’ eyes brings home the bond that exists between them and us, indeed our presence contributes their continued survival, let’s keep the spirit of meeting them. The one hour is ever small and gets finished so quickly, and we slowly make our way back to camp to end the day’s adventures Dinner and an overnight at: Gorilla forest Camp, Mahogany springs / Buhoma Lodge/ Chameleon Hill Lodge/ Mahogany Lodge/ Silverback Lodge / Rushaga Gorilla Camp

Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala
this day is reserved for a transfer back to Kampala, wake-up early for a hearty breakfast and then after, you will be driven back to Kampala with your lunch en route in Mbarara town. You will pass via Kabale commonly known as the Switzerland of Africa because of its hills and beautiful scenery. Arrive in kampala/Entebbe in the late evening for you.
