The 5 Days Gorilla Trek Rwanda & Nyiragongo Hike tour will give you a chance to track the gorillas of Rwanda in volcanoes national park and also hike the Nyiragongo volcanoes in Congo.
Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Gorilla Trek Rwanda & Nyiragongo Hike
Day 1: Pick up from the airport, City tour and transfer to Gisenyi.
After breakfast at your hotel/Lodge, our safari guide will meet and brief you about the safari and later he will transfer you to Gisenyi in the northern part of Rwanda which is the largest port on L. Kivu. If time allows, enjoy a boat cruise of Africa’s highest lake, the boat cruise is rewarding with fantastic views of the islands and far sights of the Nyiragongo volcano, you will also stand a chance to view some species of birds that live and feed on the lake. Come back to the main land for lunch and later proceed to cross the border with Congo to Goma town which is the capital of the North Kivu province.

Day 2: Nyiragongo Volcano Hiking.
In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the starting point in Kibat patrol post on the foot of Nyiragongo with your bags to begin the hike to Nyiragongo one of the most active and violent volcanoes on the Continent with the world’s most fluid and largest lava lake. The porter will help to carry your backpacker and will also help to prepare your meal on the top of the volcano.
The hike begins at 10am and it lasts for about 5-6 hour. The speed of the hike depends on the speed of the last person. Some physical fitness is needed as the hike is somehow demanding although the path is relatively easy and not too high. The volcano’s forested lower slopes are a home to a variety of animals including monkeys and bush bucks.
The hike through lush rainforest will climax with a charming view of this lava lake as you chill out for a night at the crater rim. Overnight in tents at the top of the volcano
Day 3: Descend and drive to Volcanoes national park
Wake up for a simple breakfast and then descend to the base and you will have a picnic lunch either in Goma or at Gisenyi and later drive back and cross to volcanoes national park arrive in time for lunch. If the evening is free go for Iby’wachu village walk and interact with the local people you will have lunch and dinner at. Luxury:

Day 4: Gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park
You will get up early for breakfast after our safari guide will drive you to the park headquarters to receive briefings from the park wardens about the all gorilla tracking process and also get you allocated to the gorilla family and the ranger guide. After, head to the thick rainforest to begin.
The walks might be difficult so some physical fitness is needed as well as study pair of walking shoes/boots, the trek is unpredictable it can go up to full day, however, once the gorillas are met, you are only allowed an hour with them while taking photographs and videos with them (flash cameras are not allowed) this wonderful activity, retire back to the lodge for relaxation. Day 5: Dian Fossy hike and departure.
After an early breakfast, with packed lunch and bottled water, our safari guide will take you for a hike up to the graveyard of Dian Fossy and the remains of the Old Karisoke Research Station. Dian Fossy was a prominent American primatologist who studied the behaviors of mountain gorillas for a period of over 18 years however, she was killed by the said poachers who were against her works.
She was buried in the forest near her friend gorillas including the famous Digit gorilla and many other gorillas that were killed by poachers. Although very little of the station remains, the setting is incredible and one can imagine how Dian Fossey lived in these isolated mountains for over all those years.
After the activity, on your return, you will be driven back to Kigali and later to the airport to meet your departure flight back home
